Mugera Hosts the Official Launch of the Digital School in Burundi

On February 14, 2026, the Petit Séminaire Sainte Famille de Nazareth de Mugera served as the host for the official launch of the Digital School in Burundi, an initiative aimed at accelerating the integration of digital technologies into the national education system.

Led by AURA FOUNDATION, with the support of AURA GROUP, the project seeks to strengthen the digital skills of students and teachers. Its objective is to prepare young people for technological changes, the digitalization of professions, and the rapid evolution of digital tools and artificial intelligence.

In her speech, Dr. Chamy MIKAZA, Coordinator of Aura Foundation, explained that the actions planned under the project are structured around four pillars: the deployment of digital tools in schools, the training of teachers and educational staff, the development of digital learning content, and the promotion of digital inclusion, particularly in rural areas. On this occasion, material support was provided to the host institution.

It includes forty (40) complete computers with accessories, two (2) 65-inch Smart TVs, the installation of a Starlink internet connection with an initial one-month subscription, and forty (40) desks adapted for computer equipment. The total value of this support is estimated at 177,565,000 Burundian francs (FBU).

According to Dr. Mikaza, this intervention aims to improve the quality of education, modernize teaching practices, and progressively reduce the digital divide in schools. The launch of the Digital School is part of a broader movement toward the digital transformation of education in Burundi, regarded as a strategic lever for skills development, innovation, and youth employability.
